Today was quite a day. I am thoroughly exhausted and emotionally spent. I mean really, I don’t ever remember going to the beach being this much of a hassle. I think the problem was that things went WAY too smoothly at home…
This morning I woke up around 8:15 and got dressed to take Morgan over to some meeting she had for school. On the way we stopped at Starbucks to get fuel in the form of a peppermint mocha frappucino (mmm now I want one…). Anyway, so we took Morgan to her meeting and then came home to finish packing. Our plan was to leave around 12 and miraculously we got out of the house around 12:30. We are such winners. At about this time hunger set it, and lunchtime called. To my utter enjoyment we went to Schlotzsky’s Deli which is my favorite place in the entire world. It is magical. And they have this sandwich, the original, and it is the most beautiful thing that you will ever eat. Ugh, I love it. Moving on, we got Morgan from her meeting and started on what would turn out to be one of the longest days ever. I mean really.
So we get on the road and immediately there are signs of heavy traffic. Fun. So we’re driving and it’s not horrible there are just a bunch of cars on the road, but, hey, we’re moving forward. Or so I thought. Then we can to a halt. Why I didn’t know but we stayed there for about ten minutes and then started to inch forward. Turns out some family busted a tire on their trailer and they had to pull over causing everyone else to have to stop and look. Now, as we continued down the road, I can’t tell you how many remains of busted tired I saw. Probably a hundred. Literally.
So we keep going, going, going and the GPS says two more hours ‘til we get there. We’ve already been on the road for an hour and a half.
Well, after stopping it was pretty much smooth sailing for a while. Then Morgan had to go to the bathroom. What a loser. So we stop at a rest stop and she and I go in and come back and we are on our merry way. But, as soon as we get back on the road this lady in a Volvo glues herself to the back of our car. Legit. You know how at a stop light when someone inches up behind you and you can’t see the front of their car? That’s what this was like, and we were going 75 miles and hour and if my mom tried to stop she would have hit us. She continued this dangerous proximity for about 6 miles, until my mom changes lanes and let her speed up and then changed back to get behind her. She then proceeded to stick to the person who had been in front of us’s bumper until he had to do the same thing. Luckily she got off at the next exit before she caused an accident. Crazy lady.
ANOTHER BATHROOM-BREAK. (this time for Katharine)
Then, we can to the part of the trip where we got off the highway and on to rural roads and through neighborhoods and heavily populated areas. This was slow going and what was estimated to have taken us an hour ended up taking us two whole stinkin hours.
Which is when we arrived at the reality headquarters to get the key to our hours… this is where the real fun begins.
I will post part two tomorrow. Brace yourselves.
So since it’s the end of the month I think that I should write down a few of my current favorites…
Color – Purple
Song – Can’t be tamed – Miley Cyrus (don’t hate)
TV Show – Lie To Me*
Food – Friday’s Buffalo wings/ The Original sandwich
